The first ever Coach’s Derby will be contested Saturday, December 15th from 11:00 am – 2:30 pm. If you have been a member for a long time or even if you are brand new you quickly realize Crossfit Novato is more than just a place to work out. Join CFN and you end up becoming part of a very cool extended family.
Every year clients get the chance to participate in the Darkhorse Derby. An event where we are treated like real athletes – check-in, athlete briefing, multiple events with judges! And we don’t even have to clean up when we finish our WODs.
Sure, we could sign up for a “Crossfit Competition” at another local gym. But it’s not the same as competing with your friends. When the people running the show are your family things are different. Family makes it special.
CFN is a special place – amazing because of our selfless coaches. We say thank you after class and maybe send a note now and then or even a Holiday gift, but it’s hard to really show how much we appreciate all they do for us.
With this in mind, the Coach’s Derby was born. Admittedly there was also a desire to put the coaches through the same hell they dish out to us during the Derby! But that’s only about 10 maybe 15% of the motivation. The other 90% is so we can say Thank You!
CFN is all about the client. The coaches purposely take a back seat. But we all LOVE when they participate in class – they are our best athletes and fun to watch. They deserve a day.
So YES, we will have fun watching them suffer a bit during the workouts – after all, you constantly tell us the benefits of being uncomfortable at times. But the Coach’s Derby will be a day we can put our Coaches 1st. To give them a chance to compete while their family cheers them on. A chance for us to say Thank You for all you do for us every day.
Thank you for taking the time to digest those insanely long and detailed coach’s notes. Thank you for working to be being super qualified to train us. Thank you for worrying about our fitness every day in every class. Thank you for working with our kids. Thank you for thinking about our whole health and making us better people. We see you.
The 15th is our day to honor our Coaches. We are going to do our very best to make you feel special for at least a few hours, the way you do for us every day. We really do hope it hurts a little, but I guarantee we will cheer for you in the way only family can.
